Marissa King | Redwood City, San Mateo County

Marissa started her career in public service in San Mateo County in 2002. She began by providing direct services in Workforce Development, moved into Program and Policy, and then to Training and Development for the Human Services Agency. After being given the opportunity to work on several organizational initiatives, Marissa landed her dream job in Human Resources for San Mateo County.

Knowing that San Mateo County is an employer of choice and a great place to work, she was elated to be given the opportunity to expand efforts to increase Employee Engagement, drive Collaborative Performance Management, spearhead Succession Planning, and manage the County’s Management Fellowship, Regional Internship and Supported Training & Employment Program (STEP) for Emancipated Foster Youth Programs. Another exciting facet of her role is coordinating the Management Talent Exchange Program (MTEP) for the cities, special districts, and counties of San Mateo and Santa Clara County.

Marissa obtained her both her Bachelors in Broadcast Communications and Marketing and Masters in Public Administration – emphasis in Organizational Development from San Francisco State University. She also completed the Bay Area Social Services Consortium Executive Development Program at the University of California at Berkeley.

Marissa is a Municipal Management Association of Northern California (MMANC) Board Member, wife, and mother of two bright and beautiful daughters.
