On November 19, 2015 MMANC (Region 1) organized an event called “BONDTACULAR, Sustainable Future with Bonds” which was hosted by the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, the City of Mountain View and Stifel. Stifel provided an expert overview on many technical themes from financing options available to fund infrastructure to the intricacies of the municipal bond market.

A highlight of the educational session was hearing from the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District relating to its successful June 2014 Measure AA GO bond campaign. Midpen’s General Manager, Steve Abbors, provided introductory comments and insights and Kevin Woodhouse, Assistant General Manager, covered “Midpen’s Story” — its Strategic Plan, Vision Plan, the bond election campaign and the implementation of Measure AA post-election. Kevin openly shared many lessons learned during the funding measure process.

Together, Stifel and Midpen’s presentations provided great insights for attendees regarding how local governments can successfully raise essential capital to achieve their infrastructure needs. After the presentation, a networking event was held at a nearby restaurant in downtown Mountain View.

The 25+ attendees, many of whom were attending their first MMANC event, were able to socialize with each other, relax and learn more about Stifel and MMANC. Many thanks to Stifel, MMANC Corporate Partner, Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District and the City of Mountain View for sponsoring a unique educational opportunity.
