This year’s Summer Signature Symposium Forum was a great success! Thanks to everyone who attended the event. Roughly 80 participants gathered in the City of Tracy at the Grand Theatre Center for Arts on Thursday, July 9, 2015. MMANC had a wonderful line-up of speakers, starting with the morning session from Dr. Frank Benest on the subject matter of Storytelling and its empowering effects on individuals. Everyone truly enjoyed the session and left with a personal story in mind and a mental note of future stories to share.

The afternoon brought forward two more worthwhile sessions revolving around the theme of communications.  The “Roll the Camera: How to Become Your Own Reporter” offered attendees the opportunity to role-play a realistic media interaction with a reporter. Tips and strategies were shared by former News Anchor Barbara Daly and everyone had an exciting time. While this session was taking place on one side of the Theatre, the other side was busy reading through their staff reports and working in groups to become “effective communicators”. This session was led by Pamela Miller and Wandzia Rose, and focused on effective delivery of staff reports to Executive Management (both positive and negative), media messages, overall message delivery, and learning how to achieve your desired outcome with effective messaging. Participants left this session wanting more!

MMANC wants to give a big shout out to the City of Tracy for their generosity in hosting this year’s Summer Signature Symposium Forum. We appreciate all that you do for the organization – thank you! We would also like to thank our attendees for participating in the signature event and hope to see you all at the Annual Conference in October.
